1966

Intex was founded in Los Angeles, California. Originally operating under the name Zee Toys, the company began by importing and distributing toys. Over time, it expanded its business and evolved into a leading manufacturer of products for leisure and recreation. This is where the story of the Intex brand began.

1970

Intex gradually expanded its operations into the production and sale of Wetset products, which quickly became popular with customers around the world.
In 1977, it introduced Snapset™ children’s pools, selling more than 68 million units.

1980

The company continued to grow and launched a number of iconic products. Among the most successful were the King Kool™ Lounge with more than 35 million units sold, the Whale Ride-On inflatable orca, the Seahawk™ boat and the Comfort Rest Collection airbeds.

1990

In 1996, Intex launched the Downy Air Bed, which achieved remarkable success with more than 148 million units sold.

The popularity of pools continued to grow. In 1998, the Easy Set® pool was introduced, with more than 43 million units sold, revolutionizing the above-ground pool category. A year later, it was followed by the Metal Frame pool with a sturdy metal frame.

2000

In 2002, Intex introduced built-in pumps to selected products. The company also expanded its product lineup with new additions, including the Beanless Bag inflatable chair, the River Run® tube, and the Mariner™ boat. In 2007, Intex further expanded its above-ground pool range with the premium Ultra Frame™ series, featuring a strong and durable frame.

2010

In 2013, Intex introduced Fiber-Tech™ Technology, which became the foundation of its Airbeds and PureSpa™ hot tubs.

In the following years, the company launched more successful products, including the PremAire® Airbed, Prism Frame™ Pools, and the Excursion Pro™ Kayak.

2020

The company’s portfolio continued to expand with new product lines, broadening its offering for the whole family. Alongside pools and other inflatable products, Intex introduced swing sets, AquaQuest® paddleboards, SimpleSpa™ hot tubs, and TrueAire™ airbeds, further strengthening its position as a leading provider of products for relaxation, fun, and active leisure.

2026

Intex celebrates 60 years of innovation. With more than 14 00 employees worldwide and products available in over 100 countries, the company has grown from a small business into a global brand trusted by millions of households around the world.

What started with toys gradually evolved into a diverse portfolio of products for leisure, relaxation and adventure, including Above Ground Pools, Spas, Air MattressesAir Furniture and many other products.
